San Francisco Dance Festival - Bay AreaSanhiti performed a couple of dance pieces in the San Francisco Dance Festival in 2006. The audience really appreciated the change from traditional jazz, modern jazz, contemporary dance forms to Indian folk dance. Sanhiti also enjoyed being a part of the show and enriched our understanding of modern western dance forms. ----------------------- Ariel Dance Sping Frolic Show - Bay AreaAriel Dance Studio in the Bay Area had their Spring Frolic show featuring dance forms ranging from Hip Hop, Modern Jazz, Cha Cha Cha, Samba to ethnic dances. Sanhiti presented a classical and a South Indian folk dance number in the show. ------------------------ Kalai Vizha - Bay AreaThe Tamils of Northern California hosted their 12th Annual Kalai Vizha, an annual cultural program with classical/folk music and dance in the Bay Area in October. Sanhiti was invited as a guest organization to perform a few folk and classical pieces for the show. We were glad to be able to perform with TNO and look forward to such opportunities in the future. ------------------------ Intel India Show - Santa ClaraIn February 2005, Intel had an "Intel India" show, a cultural show for the benefit of Intel employees. Sanhiti was invited to perform for the show, and we had a great time. We thank Intel for the opportunity, and look forward to doing such shows in the future. ----------------------- Tsunami Fundraiser - Bay AreaSanhiti joined hands with Bay Area Tamil Manram, helping them in their efforts to raise funds for the Tsunmai disaster. The fundraiser was held in January 2005 as part of their "Pongal Vizha". Sanhiti showcased a smaller version of thier fall show (vanavil), and received rave reviews about the same. The Tamil Manram raised a record $28,000 to benefit the following organizations: AID, FeTNA, Red Cross, TRO, Udavum Karangal, and VIDE. Sanhiti was glad to have helped raise money for those devastated by the South Asian Tsunami. ----------------------- Diwali Mela - Boise, IDThe Diwali Mela was a cultural event hosted by the Association for India's Development (Boise Chapter) for the Diwali festival in 2004. A few Sanhitians were invited to give a performance at the event. This is what AID had to say about the show: "Sanhiti's performance at AID-Boise's Diwali 2004, a fundraiser program, was phenomenal. All the 5 dances performed by Sanhiti group of California was very well received by the audience. We (AID-Boise) received rave reviews about Sanhiti's performance from Indians and Non-Indians alike, who attended the event. Diwali 2004 was a very successful fundraiser event for AID-Boise, infact, the best fundraiser ever in terms of funds raised and it would not have been possible to make this happen without the quality cultural show that we put together with the help of Sanhiti (and the local Boise talents). AID Boise sincerely thanks Sanhiti for performing at Diwali 2004 free of cost. Every volunteer at AID Boise is looking forward to working with Sanhiti again in the future" ----------------------- |
